Format of QuakeC ---------------- .qc files : Yes. progs.dat : Yes. Construction ---------------- Build Time : Not as long as most of my mods, but it started as a mini mod at first but I kept adding : to it because everyone kept playing it and wanted more, more and more! Editor(s) used : qME, Wordpad, FrikQCC, Worldcraft 1.6a Impulses : Bugs : None that I've seen so far, the major ones have been fixed. Description of the Modification ------------------------------- I've always been a fan of the Technos games for the NES like Nekketsu Ice Hockey, their Japan-only basketball game, River City Ransom and their best creation - Samurai. I noticed that they never released a Volley Ball game (actually they may of created Super Spike VBall which this mod gets some of its ideas from) so I decided I'd try my hand at one using the QuakeWorld engine. Essentially this mod is Volley Ball in quakeworld with added whackyness such as spikes turning into meteorites and other attacks to kill your opponents with but it also plays a lot to the real volley ball rules! It's multiplayer only and is very addictive once you learn how to play it properly. How to play ----------- When you've spawned in the game along with a friend (or a couple for added fun) the ball starts on the red teams side. In order to serve the ball all you must do is point which direction you want to serve to (according to your turning angle, up/down does nothing) and step up to the ball, your player will automatically serve it over the net (or not, if you're aiming the wrong way). The other teams job is to put the volley ball back on your side of the net and try and get the ball to fall to the ground thus scoring them a point (duh). As long as you're under the ball (and not in the air while coming in contact with it) you will either volley the ball or bump the ball into the air in which ever direction you're facing; Volleying and bumping is the same aside from an animation difference. Spiking the ball can be accomplished if you're close to the net - to spike just jump in the air and touch the volley ball and your character will automatically spike it downwards at a fast speed, you can even aim your spikes the same way you aim your volleys/bumps and serves! An *important* aspect to spiking is CHARGING up your power for the spike, this is accomplished by tapping the attack button in the air and a number will increase (max 6); the higher the number the more powerful the spike and the further it goes. If you're able to hit the ball with a power of 6 it'll turn into a SUPER SPIKE (as long as your characters strength level is above 0) and it will harm whoever it touches! Diving is another important aspect of this mod and real volley ball, +attack sends your character forward really fast allowing you cover ground that you normally wouldn't be able to reach in time if you were running, it's also very good at stopping spikes - practice it, as it could your only hopes of winning against another skilled player. Additional Gameplay Notes: ---------- The game's score is set at 15 and cannot be changed (the source is included though), The more strength your character has the harder the spike will hurt the person it comes in contact with and if it kills someone it may take them longer to respawn. If you're the only person on the team you may touch the volley ball up to 3 times but if you're paired up with someone you *MUST* take turns hitting the ball; like REAL volley ball rules. work together! How to Install the Modification ------------------------------- Unzip into Quake\volley\ and run any quakeworld engine you prefer, FuhQuake is a nice choice. Copyright and Distribution Permissions -------------------------------------- I do not own this, and I cannot be held responsible if it destroys your computer or life somehow. Do not sell it; and don't try and take any credit for it as you'd be ripping me off, and that'd make me a sad panda. I love keeping it simple.
